Formula 1 and the FIA have officially revealed the 2026 Formula 1 calendar. In a new era for the sport, 2026 will debut 100% sustainable fuel, technical regulation changes and a new team. The 24-race schedule promises to be groundbreaking for motorsport fans.
The 2026 campaign will begin in Melbourne, Australia, from March 6–8, and conclude in Abu Dhabi across the weekend of December 4–6. Across nine months, the championship will span five continents, challenging drivers and teams with a range of street and traditional circuits.
Australia remains the season opener due to the observance of Ramadan, which falls in February and March. Pushing the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grand Prix to April.
A shaken up calendar
Besides this, a few changes have been made to the current calendar. Notably, the F1 will head to Canada following the Miami Grand Prix in May. This adjustment allows for two North American events to be directly after each other. Improving the geographical flow of the season and making it easier for teams to transport their equipment.
The reshuffle also leads to a cleaner European leg. Beginning with the Monaco Grand Prix (June 5–7) and rounding out in Spain, with Madrid. The track will debut on the F1 calendar from September 11–13, pending FIA homologation.
However, the updated calendar also comes with notable absences. Imola is no longer on the 2026 schedule. It has been left off the list to the dismay of many motorsport fans.
A new era for Formula 1
2026 begins a new chapter for F1, marking the introduction of groundbreaking technical regulations. F1 cars are said to be lighter and more agile. Powered by 100% sustainable fuel, to contribute to F1’s goal of net-zero by 2030. Formula 1 also sees the arrival of an eleventh team, Cadillac, and Audi overtaking the Sauber operations.
F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali celebrated the announcement, noting:
“2026 will be a new era for Formula 1 where we will witness a brand-new set of regulations for our sport, the cars and the engines.
“We are excited to welcome Madrid to the calendar, and to see huge automotive brands like Audi, Cadillac, and Ford join the Formula 1 grid. It promises to be an unforgettable season.”
