Envision Racing have announced that Johnathan Hoggard and Zak O’Sullivan will drive for the team at Formula E’s Berlin Rookie Test. The test will take place on July 14, at the Tempelhof Airport circuit.
Hoggard is currently Envision’s simulator driver, but July’s Rookie Test will be his first opportunity in an all-electric GEN3 EVO Formula E car. The Berlin Rookie Test will be O’Sullivan’s second time in the Envision car, having debuted in the 2025 Jeddah Rookie Test.
Reacting to the news, both drivers are looking forward to the opportunity, and the team is excited to welcome them both to the track.

Who are Hoggard and O’Sullivan ahead of Formula E’s Berlin Rookie Test
Johnathan Hoggard is a British driver who competed in Formula and IMSA series from 2017 to 2021. Hoggard debuted in British Formula 4, before moving to Formula 3 in 2019. The Briton ran limited races in 2020 due to the pandemic, in Formula Renault and IMSA SportsCar Championship, and completed a full FIA F3 season in 2021. Hoggard conducted a one-off Formula 1 test with Red Bull at Silverstone in 2020, having won the BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award.
Like Hoggard, O’Sullivan is also a simulator driver for Envision Racing. O’Sullivan made his car racing debut in 2019 in the Ginetta Junior Championship. Since then, he has progressed through British F4, GB3, FIA F3, and Formula 2 in 2024. A member of the Williams Driver Academy, O’Sullivan was a test driver for the team in 2023. The British driver currently races in Super Formula and Super GT in Japan.
Hoggard excited and grateful for Rookie Test opportunity
With a full-time seat rare for the Brit recently, Hoggard is delighted to step into Envision’s car at the Berlin Rookie Test. He will be hoping to prove his abilities and grab a real-world seat.
“I’m super excited to take part in the Formula E Rookie Test with Envision Racing. I have been working with the team on the sim during the course of this year, and it will be a good opportunity to further develop.
I’m looking forward to getting started and also very thankful to the team for the opportunity.”
On Hoggard, Managing Director and CTO Sylvain Filippi added: “We are pleased to offer this opportunity to Johnathan to participate in the rookie test with us. He is a proven talented driver, and the test will be very helpful for him to learn more about the car and be able to correlate that back to his simulator duties.”
O’Sullivan looking forward to returning to Envision’s Formula E car
O’Sullivan is looking forward to taking to the Tempelhof Airport circuit for his second outing in Envision’s all-electric car. The Briton is on the watch list of plenty of teams with an eye for a future seat, so will be hoping to impress ahead of the rest of his season in Japan.
“I’m really looking forward to stepping back into Envision Racing’s Formula E car at the Berlin Rookie Test.
“I drove the car in Jeddah and really enjoyed it, so it will be nice having a full day in the car in Berlin to learn more about this car and racing series.”
Filippi is excited to welcome O’Sullivan back to the team, stating: “The all-day rookie test offers Zak a valuable opportunity to gain more experience behind the wheel of the GEN3 Evo car. “He’s been a strong asset to the team this season, and we’re excited to see him back in our car for the Berlin test.”
