Théo Pourchaire has spoken optimistically about his future in motorsport, after a successful Formula E Berlin Rookie Test for Maserati MSG Racing.
Formula E Rookie Tests are an opportunity for teams to utilise extra testing sessions, while providing opportunities to young drivers. Pourchaire posted his best time in Berlin’s morning session, ending the session in P4. The French currently races in the European Le Mans Series, and has recently competed in both IndyCar and Super Formula.
Speaking to the media, Pourchaire spoke of his enjoyment in working with the Maserati team, and looked ahead to a future that may involve Formula E.

Pourchaire enjoying working with Maserati MSG Racing
The Berlin Rookie Test marked a return to the Maserati Tipo Folgore for Pourchaire, with the French driver competing in Jeddah’s Rookie Test earlier this season. Jeddah’s session, paired with off-track work with the team, has led Pourchaire to feel at home with the Trident.
“Yeah, I mean, I like the team a lot. I’ve been doing a lot of simulator, of course, throughout the year, participating in the FP0 in Jeddah as well, so I know the car a little bit. I still have a lot of things to learn, but performance this morning was not too bad, so it’s a new track as well to me. So, Berlin, I’ve never driven here, but it’s a cool track and everything is going well at the moment.”
Maserati’s Rookie Test focus revealed
Maserati Team Principal Cyril Blais looked forward to seeing how both drivers would contribute to data collection and car development during the test, with the outfit currently P8 in the Teams’ Championship ahead of the season-closing London E-Prix. Pourchaire lifted the lid on Maserati plans and revealed how the team are preparing for next season.
“I mean, some of the items they are trying for next season as well, and also just trying things with me, trying some different systems in the car. There’s like a thousand things you can do in this car, so you can really set up the car for each driver and have a very different driving style compared to Stoffel [Vandoorne] or compared to Jake [Dennis]. So, I’m trying to find my systems in the car and, yeah, we’ve been working on that.”
Pourchaire looking ahead to his future
While being one of the top-talents in motorsport, Pourchaire is currently without solid plans for his future. He currently races in the European Le Mans Series, and has previously been entrusted with racing for Arrow McLaren in IndyCar, but is looking for something more concrete in the coming years.
“I’m still looking for a home. So, I’m a homeless racing driver. I mean, I’ve been doing a lot of things from Super Formula to IndyCar, a little bit of F1 in testing, F2, Formula E and endurance racing, actually.
“So, endurance racing is very cool, Formula E is very cool. I see some drivers doing both championships and it’s clearly looking very, very nice to do.”
Next season a possibility for Pourchaire in Formula E
While it is expected for Pourchaire to be racing in Formula E by the introduction of the GEN4 Evo cars in 2026, he may be seen in the series sooner than anticipated. With plenty of seats yet to be confirmed for Season 12 of FE, the Frenchman has shown his interest in possible drives.
“I feel ready to drive at any time in Formula E, and from next season, why not? At the moment, nothing is sure. I think it would be great for sure before going into the Gen 4 to have a bit more race experience, but yeah, let’s see. I’m doing a lot of simulator with Stellantis, working already on the future. Let’s see.”
While Pourchaire confirmed that Formula E is a strong possibility for his future, he reiterated his interest in competing in Formula E and the World Endurance Championship at the same time: “As I said, of course, the Formula E World Championship is really nice and if I can do both, WEC, Formula E, I don’t know. Let’s see what the future holds. I’m ready for anything, as I said.”
