Doriane Pin returned to the top of the F1 Academy Drivers’ Standings, after a strong weekend at the 2025 Canadian Grand Prix.
Pin won Race 1 in Montreal, taking the lead from polesitter Chloe Chambers on lap 3 and never looking back.
Despite the reverse grid in Race 2, Pin’s Mercedes survived a collision with Chambers’ Red Bull Ford, bringing her car home to a hard-fought P4. While safety cars disrupted Race 3, Pin secured her second podium of the weekend with a P3 finish.
Speaking to the media after the race, Pin believes she was the fastest out of her Drivers’ Championship rivals, and praised a very positive weekend.

On the weekend as a whole
It was a great weekend for Pin at the Canadian GP. Race 1 marked her third win of the season after victories in Shanghai Race 2 and Miami Race 1. Most importantly, the results saw her return to the top of the Drivers’ Standings.
“The weekend was very positive for us because we scored quite good points for the standings. We are leading the standings right now and it is great because that was the target.
“I think compared to the two contenders we are fighting with for the title, we were the one that did no mistakes, scored the maximum points and the faster overall in the weekend.”
On being able to avoid the numerous collisions during the weekend, Pin added: “I think we were more intelligent than the others. We controlled this quite well and we scored the points, so it’s good.”
Pin fortunate to escape big damage after incidents in Race 2 and 3
It was a strong weekend for the Mercedes driver, but it was not without incident. Pin found herself tangled with a Red Bull Ford in both races – Chambers in Race 2 and Alisha Palmowski in Race 3.
During Race 2, a late Chambers move saw contact between the two, with the Red Bull driver spinning. Pin was glad to keep going, despite contact: “I had a few contacts during the race and always by chance, it was good for us because we always stayed on track.”
While Pin would have been happy to leave contact at just Race 2, she saw her race flash before her eyes during Race 3 – where Pin made contact with Palmowski after she made contact with Ella Lloyd.
“For me, it was race over because I hit it quite hard. I saw the front wing was damaged. This move was out of our control, they were touching each other in front of me and I couldn’t avoid anything.
“So, I asked the team to check my front wing when I passed the starting grid in front of the pit lane. Nothing was damaged, luckily!”
Looking ahead to Zandvoort
F1 Academy heads into its summer break following the Canadian GP weekend, returning in Zandvoort during the Dutch Grand Prix weekend at the end of August.
Looking ahead, Pin knows her Montreal results are vital to the her potential Drivers’ Championship victory.
“This is positive for us and for the rest of the season. We know that we have everything to do good, so I’m keeping working on myself and with my team to go to Zandvoort and do the same.”
After both races in Zandvoort, there are only two weekends left of the F1 Academy season – Singapore and Las Vegas.
With her lead in the Standings at 20 points, ahead of Chambers, taking the positivity from Montreal would almost certainly see Pin crowned F1 Academy Champion, after finishing runner-up last year.
