Christian Lundgaard leads Championship leader Alex Palou and Will Power at a wild and windy FP2 at Road America.
Free Practice 2 for IndyCar at Road America begins underneath the blazing Wisconsin sun, and a flurry of cars take to the track.
Early laps laid down
Team Penske’s Scott McLaughlin puts the first time of the sessions on the board, with a 1:48.721. Quickly followed by Will Power and Pato O’Ward also setting their first times of FP2 at the Road America track.
McLaughlin has a bit of a moment early on at Turn 14 as he briefly loses the left rear of his car and brushes the grass.
Will Power has a small spin and brushes gravel, but quickly gets back on track under his own power.
With half an hour remaining in the last practice session of the weekend, the Top 3 are Lundgaard, Ferrucci, and O’Ward.
After bringing out a red flag late in FP1, Ed Carpenter Racings’ Alexander Rossi has spent extended time it the pits making changes to his cars set up. With just under 25 minutes left in the session, Rossi has only put in 3 laps and finds himself sitting 27th.
Also, Turn 14 appears to be a thorn in multiple drivers sides, as it catches out another driver in Santino Ferrucci. He runs wide and touches the gravel on the outside of the turn, almost making contact with Andretti Global’s Colton Herta.
Bommarito 500 winner Kyle Kirkwood runs wide and deep into the grass at Turn 14, and quickly returns to the pits to assess any potential damage after his off track excursion. He returns to the track and puts in a lap that sees him in P2.
