Formula E is ready to race the Monaco E-Prix the first time this weekend, for Round 6 of the Championship. With Taylor Barnard on pole for the first time, an exciting race was in prospect.
With the current Drivers’ championship leader in P2, Barnard would need to work hard to keep his position in the first corner. Even though Rowland crashed during the final of yesterdays’ Qualifying, his car seemed undamaged.
It’s lights out in Monaco for 29 laps of action in Monte-Carlo
Barnard led the pack through the first corner and stayed in front. It was a clean start for everyone. In the chicane, it got close, but no crash can be reported as the pack finished the first lap.
Only Rowland seemed to have a problem, as he noticed a strange noise coming from his car.
Müller came into the pits early as he had a problem with his left rear tire. At this stage, he could only hope for a safety car as, he was, more than half a second behind the rest of the pack.
First attack modes and Ticktum’s fight to get towards the top
Cassidy and Maloney took an early attack mode, to gain some advantage, as they stayed at the back during the star. The drivers could only go through attack mode 2 times during the race.
Ticktum made a risky move to get ahead of Frijns and Wehrlein while still trying to get back in the podium places.
Full Course Yellow: Da Costa in the Wall in turn 19
Da Costa hit the wall in turn 19, and claimed that Mortara pushed him there.
Maloney did use this full course yellow to change his tyres. Mortara also hit Beckmann right after Da Costa hit the wall. This led to damage to Beckmann’s car.
Restart in Monte-Carlo
And the track was green flagged again in Monaco. Barnard held his position as he was still up in the front. Rowland tried to overtake Barnard, which resulted in Barnard taking the escape route. This could lead to a penalty for Rowland.
Rowland now in front of Barnard, which leaves Barnard in between Rowland and Dennis.
Dennis was under investigation for an early race start.
Another Full Course Yellow: Mitch Evans stopped on track following a technical problem
With Buemi and Müller coming out of the pits right as the track was cleared for racing again. Rowland took his first Attack Mode, which put Barnard back in front.
Though, Rowland could overtake him quickly with the extra energy. Most of the cars now took their first attack mode.
Barnard Dennis and Frijns went into the pits to use the pit stop boost. Just like, half of the grid used the pit boost window.
Di Grassi was under investigation for an unsafe release. As well as Beckmann, though, he allegedly broke pit boost procedure.
Pit Boosts and Müllers fight to stay in the top 10
The rest of the grid went into the pit for their Pit boost 10 laps before the official end of the Monaco E-Prix.
While Müller still had both attack modes yet to use, he could gain through pitting early during the full course yellow. This led him to being in the front.
Müller still in the lead, where he now took his first attack mode. Though Müller had the advantage of attack mode, Cassidy got closer to him, with 9% less energy.
7 drivers in the top ten used their last attack mode on lap 23. The pole sitter of today counts to those, as he tried to push forward and regain his position.
Barnard in the wall after starting on pole
Pole sitter Barnard in the wall, with still around four minutes of attack mode remaining as he drove back on track in P17. The fight for the win could be over for him now, with only four official laps remaining of the Formula E Monaco E-Prix.
With De Vries in front, the others behind him, except for Rowland, are now out of attack mode. Rowland fought with De Vries, and came out on top.
With only one lap added tot the normal 29 laps, Dennis received a 5-second penalty for being too fast under the full yellow course.
Rowland still in front with De Vries in second, this could be his first podium since London 2023. De Vries over a second behind Rowland tried to hold of Dennis who had a 5 second penalty that could cause him the podium during the Monaco E-Prix.

Oliver Rowland won the Monaco E-Prix for the first time , taking his third win of the season. Nyck De Vries followed behind him home for his first podium of the season. Pole Sitter Barnard finished the Race in P16.
