Lewis Hamilton is “struggling big time” with Ferrari’s SF-25 after qualifying P12 at the Miami GP.
After a stellar podium finish in the rainy Sprint Race, moving from P7 to P3, Lewis Hamilton was unable to move out of Q2 and will start P12 at the Miami GP. The former World Champion told the media during Thursday’s Press Conference, he was still adjusting to the team after joining Ferrari this year. However after qualifying,
The Briton’s teammate, Charles Leclerc, managed to secure a spot in Q3 and will start the race from P8 on the grid. However, the Monégasque also shared that he is not please with his performance as well. Despite his top-ten start, he made it clear that both he and the team still have work to do to find the optimal setup and extract the car’s full potential.
Ferrari battling inconsistent performances
Hamilton shared, “to get into Q3 is tough for us at the moment,” acknowledging the difficulties Ferrari is currently facing in qualifying. The 40-year-old made setup changes ahead of the Miami GP in to try to extract performance from the current SF-25.
“We’ll keep trying, we’re only six races in, but we’re struggling big time,” Hamilton told Sky Sports F1, “We’re trying our hardest not to make big set-up changes, but no matter what we do, it’s so inconsistent every time we go out.”
This was the first time Hamilton did not advance into Q3 in 2025. However, technical issues made it tough for the Briton to try to reach Q3. The Briton acknowledged that it would be hard vying for the points if this performance continues.
“We’ve got problems with brakes, we’ve got problems with this instability that we’re struggling with. We’re just generally not quick enough – just to get into Q3 is tough for us at the moment, and once you’re then on that backfoot it’s hard to pick up those points.”
Hamilton expects Sunday’s Miami GP race to be “hard work”
With the full 57-lap race ahead on Sunday, Hamilton is determined to stay competitive, although it would be “hard work.” Still, The Briton emphasized his commitment to “keep trying” ahead of the Miami GP Race
“Tomorrow’s going to be hard work, but we’ll try again tomorrow. But it’s the same thing for me – I mean, I’m used to it, it is what it is and I just keep trying. [I’ll] get back in the factory next week and just keep going.”
