Pascal Wehrlein has said he feels he has the pace for a good result at the Monaco E-Prix.
Coming off a win in Miami, Pascal Wehrlein aims to take victory again as Formula E prepares to race in Monaco this weekend.
Pascal Wehrlein was promoted to the top spot after a series of post-race penalties demoted Norman Nato. He and Porsche are now targeting victory in the streets of Monaco. The double header this weekend gives double the opportunity for a good result.
Speaking to Fastest Formula News ahead of Free Practice 1, Wehrlein said he was “feeling good” ahead of racing in the principality.
“Feeling good. Obviously with the win from Miami, hoping that we can keep the pressure high and have another good result here.
“Great to be here and have a doubleheader here because I think it’s a privilege to be able to race two races here. I’m just looking forward to be back in the car. It’s one of the best tracks in the Formula E calendar.
Wehrlein on racing in Monaco
The German complemented the Monaco circuit, praising its unique characteristics that set it apart from other venues.
“I really think this track is perfect for the racing in Formula E. It’s the perfect size, delivers good racing, good opportunities to overtake. Obviously the flair here, the style is unique as well. Everything is ready for a good weekend.”
When asked if strategy would play a role in both races, Wehrlein said each race would need a different approach.
“I think so.
“I think this weekend we have a lot of topics to think about like the pit boost, two races, two different kind of races. In terms of preparation it was a lot. We take it time by time.
We have to see where we qualify, do the strategy. I think we are well prepared for different kinds of scenarios.“
Porsche enters the weekend with a comfortable lead in the team’s championship by 25 points. Wehrlein currently sits third in the driver’s championship, 19 points behind leader Oliver Rowland.
