Emerging as a threat to McLaren in the first practice session, Russell and Antonelli slipped down the order in the second session. Despite an optimistic move from George Russell threatening to derail his afternoon, Piastri dominated the race to take his fourth career victory. Lewis Hamilton has been consistently behind team-mate Charles Leclerc all weekend in Bahrain. This trait continued in qualifying. Leclerc initially secured 3rd in Q3.
