After a bruising triple-header through Bahrain, China and Saudi Arabia, Lando Norris finally had a moment to pause- and that breathing space could prove pivotal, as he heads into the F1 Miami GP, one of the more emotionally significant races on the calendar for him.
Last year, the McLaren driver made history in Miami by clinching his long-awaited maiden Formula 1 victory. With that memory fresh and the championship battle heating up, Norris returns to the United States with renewed energy and focus after admitting earlier in the season that the start to 2025 has taken a toll.
“It’s been good to recharge after a busy triple-header,” Norris shared with RacingNews365 ahead of the sixth race of the season. “But I’m excited to get back in the car, especially in Miami. It’s where I won my first F1 race, so this place is special to me. The fans here also bring a great atmosphere, so I’m excited to see all the papaya in the stands.”
For the first time since China, Norris had a clear week away from the pressures of back-to-back races. Instead of packing bags and flying across time zones, the Brit went back to the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking to recalibrate both mentally and physically.
“Last week, I was back at the MTC with the team, and in the sim to prepare for Miami. It’s a Sprint weekend, which means there are more points to race for.”
Norris brings renewed energy to 2025 F1 Miami GP
It’s a crucial opportunity for Norris, who currently trails teammate Oscar Piastri and has been under scrutiny for a string of minor yet costly errors in previous rounds. The downtime, combined with time in the simulator, might be just what’s needed to sharpen his execution on race day.
But it’s not just about data and prep, Miami also brings the energy Norris thrives on. “It should be another good weekend – bring it on!”
With extra points on offer in the Sprint and a track that brings out the best in him, the F1 Miami GP is shaping up to be a pivotal chapter in his 2025 campaign.
