Formula E is gearing up for rounds 6 and 7 of Season 11 in Monaco. It’s the eighth time Formula E hits the streets of the Monte-Carlo Circuit, but despite being a well-known track, the GEN3 Evo machines are yet to drive these streets. With the new cars, it’s also the first-ever double header in Monaco.
After a striking double-podium in Miami, the TAG Heuer teammates, reigning FIA Drivers’ World Champion Pascal Wehrlein and António Félix da Costa, are catching up to current championship leader Oliver Rowland.
Formula E’s history around the Monte-Carlo Circuit
Preserving its nearly century-old layout, first designed in 1929, the classic circuit around the historic harbour front remains unchanged for season 11. The Formula E drivers will go wheel-to-wheel twice this weekend, for a double-header event. For the first time, Monaco will host two separate back-to-back races for an FIA championship. The Monaco E-Prix will remain an iconic event in the GEN3 Evo era.
The 19 turns are spread around 3.337 kilometres and pass the renowned landmarks of Mirabeau, the esteemed Casino Square, and the famed Monaco tunnel. While following this legendary circuit, the drivers will encounter the Nouvelle chicane before gracefully driving along the historic harbour front.
Season 11 so far
Starting the season with intense battles across the Drivers’, Teams’ and Manufacturers’ standings, the fight for the title goes on in Monaco.
Victories shared between Mitch Evans in São Paulo, Oliver Rowland in Mexico City and the second Jeddah race, Maximilian Günther in the first Jeddah event and Pascal Wehrlein in Miami, show the unforeseeable nature of all-electric racing.
With consistent Podium finishes from Rowland, António Félix da Costa and an impressive performance from rookie Taylor Barnard, the Drivers’ Championship standing is extremely tight. Rowland holds first place with 15 points between him and Da Costa in second place.
Next to the Drivers’ Championship, the Teams’ Championship standing is equally close. With TAG Heuer Porsche and Nissan Formula E Team locked in a tight contest at the top.
Additionally, Nissan and Porsche fight for the top spot in the Manufacturers’ World Championship. Highlighting their consistent performance across the grid.
Sustainability as a focus in Monaco
While still having the title as the world’s most sustainable sport, it continues to aid both communities and the environment as part of its broad purpose of accelerating sustainable human progress.
Together with the FIA Girls on Track programme and support of the Monaco-based non-profit organisation ‘SheCanHeCan’ using the Championship’s Better Futures Fund, the Monaco E-Prix concentrates on gender equality during the weekend and further. Things like that are a main part of Formula E’s long-term strategy to promote diversity and equality in motorsports. While continuing to take bold steps towards a more inclusive future for motorsport.
Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, will play an important role during the race week. As he is supporting Formula E’s community engagement initiatives, strengthening the Championship’s mission to create lasting environmental impact.
