Lewis Hamilton makes his highly anticipated Ferrari debut at the 2025 Australian Grand Prix. Aiming to kickstart a new era with the legendary team.
Formula 1 fans have been counting down the days until Lewis Hamilton makes his highly anticipated debut for Ferrari. With the season opener at the Australian Grand Prix around the corner, the long-awaited day is almost upon F1 fans. The seven-time world champion will embark on a new era of his career, wearing the iconic red Ferrari in Albert Park.
Hamilton “prepared” for the challenge
Hamilton announced his shock move to Ferrari over a year ago, ending a record-breaking twelve seasons at Mercedes. However, this new challenge does not frighten the 40-year-old. Despite the short time he has had to acclimatise with the new team, Britt believes he is in the best shape possible ahead of 2025.
“It has been a long winter but also a very short one,” Hamilton stated. “I feel excited. I feel we’re as best prepared as we could be given the short space of time I’ve had with the team.”
The transition from Mercedes to Ferrari has been closely watched by F1 fans, regardless of their alliances. With many wondering if Hamilton’s arrival at the team can restore Ferrari to their winning ways. As Hamilton’s presence is expected to bring both experience and motivation to the team, many believe he will finally be able to secure his eighth world championship.
Albert Park holds special significance for Hamilton. He will continue the streak of making his team debut at the Melbourne circuit. Previously, the British driver debuted with McLaren in 2007 and Mercedes in 2013. Alongside this, Hamilton has often had very strong performances on the Australian track.
Reflecting on his debut, Hamilton noted,
“Being at Melbourne is going to be very reminiscent of my first grand prix there. It’s going to be cool to start in red. I’m still pinching myself.”

Ferrari’s Competitive Prospects
Following Pre-season testing, McLaren and Ferrari have proved themselves to be strong contenders for 2025. Many F1 fans and pundits believe Formula 1 will see an intense battle between these two teams in the upcoming season. Ferrari will be hoping that they can get their revenge from 2024, and claim Ferrari’s first title since 2007.
“I’m super motivated. We want to bring Ferrari back to the top for sure,” Leclerc stated, echoing the ambition that has defined Ferrari’s long-standing pursuit of championship glory.
Team principal Frederic Vasseur remains cautiously optimistic. Emphasising the unpredictable conditions of Bahrain but also stating the team is determined to fight at the front in 2025.
“It was very difficult to conclude Bahrain with these extreme conditions. But now we want to go back on track to fight and to race.”
The Formula 1 season begins in under a week, in a season full of firsts for many drivers, it promises to be an electrifying season. However, in Melbourne, all eyes will be on Lewis Hamilton as he embarks on this new journey with Ferrari. As many hope that the pairing of Hamilton and Leclerc can help restore Ferrari to its winning ways.
