Ferrari has confirmed the future of their Team Principal, Frédéric Vasseur. The Frenchman has officially signed a multi-year contract extension with the Italian outfit, after months of speculation.
Vasseur, who began his role at the start of the 2023 season, found himself at the centre of the rumour mill when F1 headed to Montreal earlier this season. Reports began to surface that his role could be in jeopardy after Ferrari faced a difficult start to 2025. As Vasseur’s contract was set to expire at the end of the season, many believed the team wouldn’t extend it. Causing fellow Team Principal, Wolff, to defend his friend publicly.
However, Ferrari announced today that it has extended a contract for the Frenchman. Although at this stage, it is unknown how long he will stay with the historic team.
Thoughts from the team
In an official statement, Ferrari acknowledged Vasseur’s leadership qualities and the progress made under him.
“Renewing Fred’s contract reflects Ferrari’s determination to build on the foundations laid so far. His ability to lead under pressure, embrace innovation, and pursue performance aligns fully with Ferrari’s values and long-term ambitions.”
Meanwhile, Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna also expressed strong support for Vasseur. Labelling the contract extension as a deliberate and strategic move for the Scuderia.
“Today, we want to recognise what has been built and commit to what still needs to be achieved. It reflects our trust in Fred’s leadership, a trust rooted in shared ambition, mutual expectations and clear responsibility.”
Thought’s from Vasseur
Whilst thrilled with the contract extension, Fred Vasseur acknowledged both the honour and the responsibility that come with the renewal.
“I’m grateful for the trust Ferrari continues to place in me. This renewal is not just a confirmation — it’s a challenge to keep progressing, to stay focused, and to deliver.“
Despite a rough start to the 2025 campaign, the Frenchman highlighted the progress Ferrari has made. Reflecting on his journey so far, Vasseur stayed focused on the future.
“Over the past 30 months, we’ve laid strong foundations, and now we must build on them with consistency and determination. We know what’s expected, and we’re all fully committed to meeting those expectations and taking the next step forward together.”
