The short but action-packed clip has ignited excitement, offering fans a glimpse of the intense drama and speed they can expect when the film hits theatres in the summer of 2025.
The project began its journey in December 2021, when a bidding war for an untitled film starring Brad Pitt kicked off.
What is the F1 movie about?
Directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Brad Pitt, and Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton, the film stars Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a former F1 driver who makes his return to the racing world.
He is paired with rookie teammate Joshua Pearce, played by Damson Idris, at the fictional APX GP team.
The movie explores the fierce rivalries, intense competition, and dramatic highs and lows of Formula 1.
Scheduled for a theatrical release in IMAX worldwide on June 25, 2025, and June 27, 2025, in North America, the film offers a unique, authentic portrayal of the sport, with real Grand Prix footage shot at various races worldwide. The film also features collaborations with F1’s ten teams, drivers, and the FIA.
Who is taking part in the movie?
The movie boasts a stellar supporting cast, including Academy Awards winner Kerry Condon. Javier Bardem, and Tobias Menzies. Other notable actors like Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo join the cast.
Their performances are expected to complement the high-speed drama and emotion of the film.
The buzz around the Formula 1 movie began in 2024 with a teaser released during the British Grand Prix.
