Jaguar has announced that Nick Cassidy will leave the team at the conclusion of the London E-Prix, after a disappointing season.
Nick Cassidy arrived at Jaguar last season and instantly made an impression. Finding himself in the battle for the title, he took three wins, and the battle for the championship down to the wire in London.
Ultimately, he and team- mate Mitch Evans lost out to Porsche’s Pascal Wehrlein. Despite the setback, the 2024-2025 season looked to be positive for Cassidy, as he chased another shot at title glory.
Instead, the season has been far from stellar. Poor qualifying, bad luck and mechanical issues have blighted his campaign. Flashes of his undeniable speed have shown through at points, notably his win in Berlin.
Full statement from Jaguar
However, this has not been enough for Nick Cassidy or Jaguar to continue their relationship. In a statement, Jaguar confirmed his departure was “by mutual consent” with Cassidy.
Jaguar TCS Racing can confirm that Nick Cassidy will be leaving the team at the end of the 2024/2025 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. This decision has been reached through mutual agreement between Nick and the team.
As Jaguar TCS Racing head into the season-finale double-header London E-Prix weekend, everyone at the team thanks Nick for the massive contribution he’s made since joining on a two-year contract at the beginning of Season 10, not least taking the fight for the 2024 Drivers’ World Championship down to the wire.
Nick’s Season 10 total of 176-points – including two wins, six podiums, five fastest laps and a pole position – were instrumental in Jaguar TCS Racing winning the 2024 ABB FIA Formula E Teams’ World Championship, Jaguar’s first World Championship as a manufacturer since 1991.
To date – and with the two E-Prix at London still to come – Nick has scored four wins, a further seven podiums, seven fastest laps and two pole positions in Jaguar colours. Those stats represent a total of 278 points, and everyone at the team would like to recognise Nick for his incredible work ethic, relentless determination to win and, of course, his outright speed.
Nick Cassidy confirms reason behind departure
James Barclay, Jaguar TCS Racing Team Principal, praised his driver in a statement. Barclay also departs the team at the end of the season.
“Nick is an exceptional racing driver and a very astute competitor as the world can see from his performances. He has impressed everyone in the team with his unwavering dedication to win and I’m proud of the role he’s played in our team success.
“On behalf of the whole team, I’d like to thank Nick and wish him all the best for a successful future – starting of course with the final race weekend of the 2024/2025 Season in London, where together we’ll still be fighting as hard as ever for points, podiums and wins.”
Nick Cassidy also via statement hinted at the reasons behind his choice to leave the team.
“The decision to leave Jaguar TCS Racing has not been an easy one, but ultimately it is the right one for me personally. I’d like to thank everyone at the team for their support since I joined at the beginning of Season 10. We have fought hard and had some great success together.
“I particularly want to thank the engineers and mechanics on the #37 side of the garage – we’ve made some amazing memories! Looking ahead to London this weekend, we’ll work as hard as ever as a team to ensure we’re competitive and fighting for another top three finish in the Drivers’ World Championship.”
