The Andretti driver, Jake Dennis, started the second race of the Berlin E-Prix in P16 and drove all the way up to P2. After having a difficult weekend in Berlin and being unlucky during the whole season, Dennis secured his second podium of this Formula E season.
Dennis “happy to get the points” at the Berlin E-Prix
When talking exclusively to Fastest Formula News after the race, Dennis admitted that he felt “happy to get the points.” As getting a Podium in Formula E is never an easy task. Especially after starting way back on the grid and having to fight to get to the front. After having technical issues in the first race during the Berlin E-Prix, and not being able to finish his lap during qualifying. The Brit revealed to FFN that “the way [they] did” get on the podium “was pretty impressive.”
“It feels great, you know, getting a podium is never easy in Formula E, and to get one like the way we did was pretty impressive, so super pleased, relieved and happy to get the points.”
Stable and dry weather conditions helped to reach the podium
Dennis admitted that he and the team saw a chance to get points during the second race of the Berlin E-Prix. Even though the issues from before did throw a shadow on the weekend, the team was optimistic for points if the conditions stayed dry. With the pace clearly there in qualifying, Dennis admitted that “the weather conditions [thankfully]” did not change in Berlin. Which meant that the team got points and a podium during the second race of the Berlin E-Prix. While Nico Müller, the second Andretti driver, did get a penalty and fell out of the points in Round 14 of the Formula E championship.
“I think if it was dry, we had the opportunity to do it, and thankfully the weather conditions stayed off, and we got the points, so yeah, exactly.”
P2 as a “little morale boost” ahead of Dennis’ home race
Looking ahead to the last race weekend of the season, Dennis is a “bit more motivated” after reaching P2 in the Berlin E-Prix. Hoping to repeat the performance of the second race, for the whole weekend in London. While the season on its own wasn’t an easy one for the team, the podium finish in Berlin gave Dennis a “little morale boost” ahead of London. Having higher hopes for the outcome of his home race, than for the Berlin E-Prix.
“It just makes me a bit more motivated, to be honest. It’s been a pretty difficult season with the reliability issues we’ve had, and this little morale boost is nice.”
