Andretti Global has announced that Jak Crawford and Frederik Vesti will drive in the Formula E Rookie Test. Representing the team on Monday, July 14, following the 2025 Berlin E-Prix doubleheader. The Berlin Rookie Test features two three-hour sessions. Giving the teams a chance to evaluate emerging talent while helping drivers gain experience in Formula E’s all-electric GEN3 Evo cars.
Crawford set to return to Andretti Formula E cockpit for the Berlin Rookie Test
Jak Crawford returns to the Andretti Porsche 99X Electric for his first outing with the team. Further building on his roles as Andretti’s Formula E’s Reserve and Development Driver. The American showcased his potential with an impressive second-place finish at the 2024 Berlin Rookie Test. Furthermore, he set the fastest time during the 2025 Jeddah E-Prix Free Practice 0 session in 300 kWh running.
Vesti brings versatility and F1 pedigree to Andretti’s Berlin Rookie lineup
Frederik Vesti joins Crawford in Berlin, returning to the all-electric World championship. After, he previously tested for Mahindra Racing at last year’s Formula E Rookie Test. A multiple race winner and former title contender in Formula 2, Vesti also serves as a test and reserve driver for the Mercedes-AMG F1 Team. Currently racing in the IMSA SportsCar Championship with Cadillac Whelen, the Danish driver brings a wealth of across various motorsport categories as he prepares to take on the challenges of the GEN3 Evo in his second Formula outing.
Griffiths hails Crawford and Vesti as “seriously strong pairing” for Berlin Rookie Test
Andretti’s Team Principal Roger Griffiths said Crawford had impressed with both his “pace and professionalism.” He added that a third outing would let him “build even further on the work he’s already done with our simulator and engineering teams.”

Griffiths also welcomed Vesti to Andretti to the team, calling him “an excellent addition to our rookie lineup.” Thanks to his motorsport experience and his reserve driver role with Mercedes-AMG F1. He described the pair as a “seriously strong pairing” and said team looked forward to “seeing what both drivers can deliver.”

Crawford is eager to build on past success to return to Berlin with Andretti
Jak Crawford expressed his excitement about returning to the cockpit for the Berlin Rookie Test. He said he was “looking forward to getting back in the car” and building on his recent experience. His last outing came in Free Practice 0 in Jeddah, which, he noted, “hasn’t been that long ago.”
Crawford is eager to contribute and “put in some good work for the team.” Looking back on last year’s Rookie Test in Berlin, he said he “really enjoyed the track” and felt he “performed well.” With more experience under his belt, he’s ready to “get some more laps” and continue progressing with Andretti.

Vesti excited to gain experience and contribute at Berlin Rookie Test with Andretti
Frederik Vesti shared his excitement ahead of the Berlin Rookie Test with Andretti Formula E. He said he was “happy and proud” to take part. Vesti previously completed a one-day test and called it “a good experience.”
This time, he brings more knowledge and the backing of a “great team.” He looked forward to exploring the GEN3 Evo, working with engineers, and learning from the team. He also hoped to “contribute to some of the team’s different test items” during the day.
“I’m extremely happy and proud to be participating in the Rookie Test. I did the one-day test last year and had a good experience in the Formula E car, but this time around with a bit more experience and with a great team such as Andretti behind me.”
“It’s going to be a really exciting day for me to explore the all new GEN3 Evo, work with engineers and of course, learn from the team.”
