Envision Racing has confirmed it will retain the services of Sébastien Buemi on a multi-year extension.
Sébastien Buemi’s mixed Season 11 saw him and Envision struggle for consistency. The first half of the season proved frustrating, with a five-race run failing to score points.
This turned around dramatically in the second race of the Monaco weekend. The Season Two champion took advantage of the inclement weather to take a well-deserved win, his first in six years.
Whilst not returning to the winners’ step again in Season 11, his consistent performances transformed his season. He followed up his win with another podium in Jakarta, and third in the season finale. He was elevated to 12th in the standings by season’s end.
Buemi’s tenacity and experience played a vital part in the turnaround in Envision’s performance. While teammate Robin Frijns struggled all season, Buemi continued to extract the maximum from his car.
Statement from Buemi and Envison
In a statement released by Envision, Sébastien Buemi spoke of his desire to achieve more with the team.
“I’m delighted to re-sign with Envision Racing. We have enjoyed plenty of great moments and results together over the past three seasons, and I am very excited and motivated to add to this.
Season 11 was a good year for me personally, achieving the win and podiums which have been a great boost for us to keep working hard and achieve more this season.”
Envision Racing Managing Director & CTO, Sylvain Filippi, also confirmed his delight at continuing the relationship.
“We’re delighted to confirm that Seb will remain part of the team. His experience and technical insight have been instrumental in advancing both our car and our overall performance.
We’re confident he will continue to drive us forward and deliver strong results.”
Statement from Envision Racing
Envision Racing confirm Sébastien Buemi has re-signed with the team on a multi-year deal for Season 12 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship and beyond.
The Swiss driver, who is tied on the greatest number of wins in Formula E history (14) has driven for Envision Racing since Season 9 – in that time securing six podiums, two pole positions and one win, as well as contributing to the Team World Championship title in his first season with the team.
Despite a more challenging season than anticipated in Season 11 for the Silverstone-based team, Buemi delivered consistent points and strong performances: most notably, securing victory at the Monaco E-Prix followed by two further podiums in the remainder of the season in Jakarta and the final race of Season 11 in London.
