Verschoor reports that he and the team are ‘feeling strong’ following a strong performance in both races at the F2 Hungarian GP.
As the weekend began, it was not looking very promising for Verschoor, who kicked off Free Practice in P9. Unfortunately, the same pace was shown in qualifying, where he landed in P11, just missing out on the top 10 by five hundredths.
However, in the Sprint race, the MP Motorsport driver started off strong with passes on Mini, Beganovic and Goethe, to secure P8 and a spot in the points. He completed the rest of the race, having maintained his pace to come home in eighth.
The following day, in the Feature Race, Verschoor managed his way up once again to finish the race in P5 this time. A top-ten and a top-five finish with P11 starts made for a satisfactory result for him and the team.

Verschoor shares his highlights and low points.
Sharing his thoughts on the race, he remarked, “It was interesting”. I think we have been lucky that there was a VSC and a Safety Car for sure. On the other hand, our pace was mega today.”
However, he expressed his dismay concerning a six-car battle that cost him a lot of time. “I am a bit disappointed with Martí because I lost so much time because of him”, he said. “He was trying to defend a lot, which didn’t make sense, and then we were both stuck behind Minì later.”
“So we both lost a lot of time there, which I think was a shame, because I would definitely have been fighting for the podium if not for that”, he declared. Indeed, it was crucial that Verschoor had the opportunity to maximise performance in order to stay within reach of his Championship rival, Fornaroli.
He concluded positively, commending him and the team’s overall performance. “But so far we are feeling strong, happy with 10 points today, now a small holiday, and then we are back.”
What comes next for the driver
After the summer break, Formula 2 will return with four races on the calendar. From which we can expect the pressure to be even higher as we round out the 2025 F2 season and crown a Champion. Richard Verschoor currently sits in P3, just two points behind Crawford in second and just 19 points behind the leader, Fornaroli.
Looking to the next race in Monza, Verschoor declared, “I’m very excited”. “Monza is always a track that I really like, it’s a high-speed track, high-speed in terms of top speed, but some nice chicanes.”
“The races are always exciting, and I am really excited for that.”, he added. For Verschoor, the last half of the season will be crucial to his aspirations to win the title. And with a narrow separation in the points, the win is possible for anyone.
