Following the post-race penalty for Alex Dunne, Arvid Lindblad was disqualified, with Roman Staněk inheriting victory at the F2 Belgian GP.
Alex Dunne stormed to a dominant win in the F2 feature race earlier today. However, as a result of a post-race penalty, the Irishman dropped down to P20.
According to the stewards, Dunne failed to follow the proper start set-up procedure at the beginning of the feature race during the formation lap. Additionally, as the McLaren junior shortly reclaimed the championship lead after the feature race win, Dunne now tumbled down to fourth in the standings.
Similarly, second-place finisher, Arvid Lindblad, was later disqualified following the feature race. Following the F2 feature race, Car 4 was checked and found to be in breach of the FIA technical regulations. As Lindblad’s tyre pressures were below the limit, the Red Bull Junior has been disqualified.
As both the first and second place finishers have been disqualified, it leaves Roman Staněk to inherit the victory. Even though it might not be how he expected to get the win, the Czech racing driver finally achieves his maiden Formula 2 victory. The feature race provided plenty chaos as the drivers had to fight their way through difficult conditions, low visibility, and incidents.
The Invicta driver lined up third on the grid following a strong qualifying session. After grabbing a P6 finish in the sprint race earlier on and now inheriting the win in the rain-filled race, Staněk undoubtably has had an amazing weekend.
The long-awaited maiden victory comes after Staněk originally finished third on the podium around the demanding Spa-Francorchamps circuit.
