Lando Norris finished the 2025 F1 Miami GP Sprint Qualifying in P3, just behind his teammate Oscar Piastri in P2 and rookie Kimi Antonelli, who took pole.
When asked by the media about this qualifying result, Norris said he felt “good”. He was particularly pleased given his struggles earlier in the season. After a disappointing performance and crash in the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Qualifying sessions, this result marked a significant improvement for the Briton.
Norris “in a good ballpark” for the Miami GP Sprint Race
“It was close, so not much more I could ask for,” Norris explained after F1 Miami GP Sprint Qualifying. He felt the car was in a solid place. Still, the session showed just how tight the field was.
“I’m concentrating on this weekend and today’s performance,” he said. “I think it was in a good ballpark. Obviously not good enough, but it shows how close it is. It shows how quick the Mercedes [cars] are.”
Both McLaren will start the Miami GP Sprint behind rookie Kimi Antonelli. That result made it clear—there’s no room for error. Every tenth of a second counts.
“It shows how quick the Mercedes are, and both of us are behind Antonelli,” Norris noted.
Despite that, he stayed positive. He believed the team still had a chance of a good result in the Sprint. “A bit of a job to do for the Sprint race tomorrow,” he said. “But close enough that we can still try and aim for a pole [in Qualifying].”

Last year’s win “[is] in the past” for Norris
Last year, Lando Norris achieved a major milestone. He won his first-ever Formula 1 Grand Prix. It happened right here in Miami. The race marked a turning point in his career.
Now, one year later, Norris is back for the 2025 F1 Miami GP. He returned to the same track where it all happened. Naturally, the memories came flooding in.
“A lot of good memories here,” he said. “But at the same time, you forget about it – it doesn’t matter, it’s in the past.”
