Dan Ticktum has predicted a good weekend for him and Cupra Kiro at the Monaco E-Prix.
Dan Ticktum enters the Monaco weekend on the back of two consecutive points finishes in Miami and Jeddah. He currently sits 16th in the driver’s standings, 13 points away from breaking into the top ten.
Cupra Kiro are ninth in the standings and has struggled to score consistent points in Season 11. Their Team Principal, Alex Hui, has targeted a good finish around the famous streets.
Opportunities for a strong race result on the principality are aplenty. A double header gives Ticktum and Cupra Kiro two attempts to secure a strong result.
Speaking to Fastest Formula News on Media Day in Monaco, Ticktum said one critical factor would dictate if he and Cupra Kiro could shine under the Monaco sun.
“It just depends. I think everything’s so close this season. Nissan, Mahindra have all made a big step, so it’s a lot closer. It’s really hard to predict, to be honest
It just depends where and how we get the car in the window. If the car’s in the window, I’m very confident I can be fast here. I’ve always been pretty good here.
If the car’s in the window, I think it could be a very good weekend.
Preparing for a double header in Monaco
Ticktum also confirmed his strategy for the weekend’s unique double header. Saturday’s race sees the return of Pit Boost, which he says will significantly impact the race.
“The two races will be very different. The first race on Saturday is going to be fast, so the targets will be high. Qualifying will be more important on that day than Sunday.
“Sunday is going to be more of a classic Formula E race, lifting and more about strategy. Maybe a bit more chaotic. Different strategies on both days.
The Briton also spoke of his approach to racing around the tight, twisting roads of Monte-Carlo.
“It’s important to keep your nose clean here. There’ll probably be at least five cars that don’t finish in both races. I think that’s it really.
“Try and keep clean. It’s always good to have a strategy planned out before the race, but these races change so quickly, especially at Monaco.
“As a driver, you’ve really got to be on top of that and adapt. I’ve been a lot of times, so no, there’s nothing in particular. Just enjoy it. Proper street circuit. It’s great. “
