A piece of F1 history is to be auctioned at the Monaco GP this year, with Michael Schumacher’s Monaco winning F2001 going under the hammer.
The Ferrari F2001 is one of the most successful and iconic cars in F1 history, driven by the legendary Michael Schumacher.
Taking 9 wins out of 17 races, 10 podiums, and 13 pole positions, it is a symbol of Ferrari’s dominance in the early 2000s.
Chassis 211, used in Monaco, guided the seven-time world champion to victory in the principality, en-route to both championships in 2001.
The car will return to the scene of its famous dominant victory, becoming the first F1 car to be auctioned in Monaco.
The evocative car will be on display in the F1 Paddock Club at the Monaco GP, ahead of its auction, conducted by RM Sothebys.

Auctioned F2001 a ‘hugely significant’ Michael Schumacher Ferrari
Speaking to f1.com, Augustin Sabatié-Garat, Director of Sales at RM Sotheby’s outlined the prestigious car.
“Victory on the streets of Monte-Carlo alone would make this a hugely significant Ferrari, but to do so in the same season that it crossed the line to capture both the Drivers’ and [Teams]’ World Championships – the first back-to-back championship double in Ferrari history – takes it to a completely different level,”
“We are very excited to take chassis 211 back to the site of its historic win, and to be able to auction it during the Monaco Grand Prix weekend is an immense privilege.”
Bidding will start at 15:15 local time on Saturday, minutes before qualifying for the iconic Monaco GP.
A donation from the auction proceeds will be given to the the Keep Fighting Foundation, set up to continue Schumacher’s charitable work.
Other Michael Schumacher cars have been auctioned in recent months and years, all commanding a high price.
The German’s 1993 Benetton B193 went under the hammer in Miami with a guide price of £800,000 prior to bidding.
The most expensive Schumacher car sold at auction remains the 2003 F2003 GA. Powering Schumacher to his sixth title, it sold for a staggering $14.87 million in 2022.
