Jack Doohan has publicly admitted ahead of the Australian GP that Franco Colaptino has eyes on his Alpine seat.
Jack Doohan finds himself in the unenviable position of potentially losing his seat before having completed a race in 2025.
Doohan has just five races to save his seat, as Colapinto is said to have the backing of Alpine Executive Advisor Flavio Briatore.
On Thursday, Doohan appeared relaxed and at peace with his situation ahead of this weekend’s Australian Grand Prix.
Taking part in his first home race, the Australian has reaffirmed his position that he will race for Alpine for the entirety of 2025.
Jack Doohan: ‘No point’ to comment on rumours
Speaking at a media session on Thursday, Doohan said he would not comment on the rumours, instead he is focusing on racing at home.
“To be honest, you know, kind of similar as Max said before, you know, I haven’t been thinking about any of that because as you all know, you know, I don’t, there’s no point thinking about rumours or commenting on them. But, you know, I have a contract for at least this year, you know, if not more.
“So, you know, I look forward to many home Grands Prix and the uncertainties, you don’t bother worrying about them anyway.
Despite not wanting to comment on the rumours, he did admit that he’s aware he must perform in all races.
“I think I have to perform each and every time I’m in the car regardless. I have one really good guy chasing my seat, we actually have four now, if you didn’t realise, we have four reserve drivers. So all four of them, not just Franco, probably one’s my seat and if not Pierre’s as well.
“And I wanted their seats while I was a reserve driver the last two years. So, you know, I’m going to enjoy it to be honest, every race as it’s my last because I want to enjoy each and every moment as I’m always in the car. But yeah, to be honest, not much more to add.
